"RGB" what the hell does it mean?
A RGB-SCART-cable is a type of cable that will result in a much clearer picture on your tv screen than you would using a normal cable!
-The normal RF-cable or video to scart-cable are the types of cables that usually get supplied when you buy your console, because it's little bit more compatible than a RGB-SCART-cable. It's also a little bit cheaper.
-A RGB-SCART-cable is a little less compatible than the normal RF-cable or video to scart-cable and a little more expensive, because it has more wires inside of the cable to produce a clearer picture.
A RGB-SCART-cable is preferred.
The normal RF-cable or video to scart-cable performs an inadequate job; they produce fuzzy colors and an unsharp screen (makes it look like that time you drank too much bear ..remember)
Now you might be thinking: "what the hell is this asshole talking about", but seeing is believing. And when you see a RGB-cable in action the picture is clear and stable much like a pc-monitor (only offcourse on a lower resolution)
There isn't a console in the world that has a RGB cable included in the package.
You will have to buy it seperately.
Why isn't there a RGB cable included in the package of a console?
Probably because there might be some people that have such an old tv it doesn't have a SCART input on the back/can't handle the NTSC video signal through a SCART-connection.
I think that most console producers feel that including both type of cables will confuse customers and make the cost of the package higher!
But why don't they explicitly write in the manual that the cable delivered with the package sucks sucks sucks!.
Maybe because that will also confuse customers.
But that hasn't stopped me from making this page.
What manufacterers should do is supply both types of cables in their packages. Too many people play games with the normal RF-cables or video to scart-cables, because they don't know any better.
So what if the package will be a little bit more expensive!; your console will have a much clearer picture than the other console the kid next door bought; monkey see monkey do! (.....do the math).
*TIP
Be carefull when buying a (cheap) RGB-cable that the wiring is thick enough.
I bought a really cheap grey RGB-cable from PSX-shop.
In the midle it has video & stereo out which is cool.
But I think because the wiring is so thin the sound distorts when reaching high audio levels (like explosions & other loud sounds).
This is really annoying so beware!
